I feel ya’. My partner is always forcing the worst of the worst pop culture down my throat because she’s now in media studies. It’s such a thinly veiled excuse!
I don’t know though, Miley might be grounds for divorce.

I can’t say I was one of the biggest fans of Michael Jackson, but I must say, I really am crying a thousand tears every day. he really tried to make a change, that really was his dreams. someone says “No, I liked Michael Jackson when he was a kid, but not when he got older an thought he could save the wordl”. -That’s wrong! He didn’t think he could do that all alone, he needed help, and he knew that. Why would he make all those songs like “Man in the mirror”, We are the World”, “Heal the World, “Human nature” and the rest of it, if he didn’t try to tell us something? “Let’s realize that a change can only come when we stand together as one”, is one of his many touching sentences in “We are the World”, and that was also what he tried to make us understand. Did we listen? Unfortunately no, but let’s do that now, to show our gratitude to King of Pop<3

Thanks for the recommendation, Andy. I missed this one, but remember hearing about it. I’ll have to check it out. In my “Playing Guns” piece, I address my disconnect to the wars going on right NOW (and since they’ve been going on for a while, 2003 still counts, I’d say.) This film may add a new level to things.

Since you enjoyed this, you might want to check out Generation Kill (if you haven’t already). It looks like your interest is more geared to WWII than military necessarily, but I’d put the two mini-series neck and neck as the best I’ve seen (and I’m not a war nut).
